Special Conditions
During pregnancy, you will have regular follow-up and antenatal care with your obstetrician. Screening tests, such as for gestational diabetes, are typically conducted at your Obstetrics & Gynaecology clinic.
We recommend that you refrain from undergoing health screening with us while pregnant. However, if you still wish to proceed, we encourage you to only evaluate your lipid profile and fasting glucose.
Certain vaccinations should not be administered during pregnancy. To determine suitability, please consult our clinic staff.
If you are breastfeeding, you can undergo health screening. However, please note that this should not replace or occur before your postnatal follow-up with your obstetrician.
While you can undergo health screening while on your menstrual period, urine and stool specimens should not be provided during this time. To ensure better accuracy, it is advisable to wait until 1 week from the last day of your menstrual cycle.
Pap smear studies should be conducted only 8 days after the end of your menstrual period.
Please note that CA 125 (Ovarian Tumor Marker) levels may be falsely elevated during menstruation, immediately before, and immediately after. For optimal results, aim to take the CA 125 test either one week before or after your menstrual period.
If you feel unwell, please kindly postpone your health screening appointment.
It is important to ensure that you are in good health before undergoing any screening procedures.
You can reschedule your appointment by contacting us at +65 6939 6161.
Specific Tests
At Alliance Medical Centre, we utilise a digital radiography solution that minimises both radiation exposure and the need for retakes. It allows more precise imaging while keeping radiation doses to a minimum. This ensures the highest level of safety and accuracy in our radiographic procedures.
No preparation is necessary. Ladies who are pregnant or possibly pregnant are advised NOT to take X-ray tests. Please inform our staff before undergoing such tests.
Ultrasound studies are a non-invasive way of evaluating soft tissues and organs as part of the health screening process. No special preparation is necessary for ultrasound imaging. For convenience, please come in loose and comfortable attire.
For abdomen ultrasound imaging, please fast for at least 8 hours. For ultrasound of pelvis and/or prostate, you are encouraged to drink at least 5 to 6 cups of water and avoid going to the toilet prior to the test.
An average test may take up to 30 minutes. As ultrasounds do not involve x-rays, it is considered safe for pregnant and/or breastfeeding moms.
