What to Take Note of Before My Appointment?

Medication

  • Long-Term Medications: Some medications may need to be temporarily stopped prior to your appointment. Consult with your healthcare provider for specific instructions regarding any long-term medications you are taking.
  • Diabetes Medication: If you have diabetes, you may be advised to discontinue your diabetes medication on the day of your appointment. However, if you have Type 1 diabetes and use insulin injections, it is important to consult with your doctor beforehand.
  • Heart Conditions and High Blood Pressure: Routine medications for heart conditions and high blood pressure are generally permitted during the screening. However, beta-blockers should be discontinued 1-2 days before the appointment. If you are taking beta-blockers, it is advisable to consult your doctor for further guidance.

For certain tests like blood tests and abdomen ultrasounds, fasting is necessary. It is advised to abstain from food and drinks for a minimum of 8 hours before your appointment. You are allowed to drink small amounts of plain water during the fasting period. Avoid consuming alcohol for 3-5 days before the blood tests.

Pre-Screening Menstrual calendar

For ladies

To ensure more accurate results, it is recommended to schedule your Pap smear, urine, and stool tests at least 1 week after the last day of your menstrual period. If you happen to be menstruating on the day of your appointment, please inform our clinic staff. Avoid sexual intercourse 2 days before cervical screening examinations (ThinPrep PAP Smear).

For mammogram screenings, do not apply deodorant, perfume, body lotion, powder, cream, or cosmetics on your underarms or around your chest area, as they may affect the mammogram results.
